JavaCard Enhancements
Working with the same customer for whom we customized our JavaCard product, we have subsequently provided several modifications/enhancements.
- Port to ARM
- Optimization of the Java virtual machine
- Modifications to the low-level Memory Management
The product was ported from its original platform to an ARM-based chip. The effort and risk involved in porting was substantially reduced because the original product had been developed to incorporate our Hardware Abstraction Layer. Our advanced understanding of low-level requirements
We implemented modifications to the low-level Memory Manager functionality to support the specialized requirements of a Secure Element, rather than those of a smartcard. Having a Secure Element continuously (or for a relatively long term) powered-up has implications for garbage collection both in RAM and Non-Volatile Memory. The heap managers were enhanced to meet these needs.
These enhancemnets have built on our deep understanding of the JavaCard specifications and the requirements of the low-level architecture.
